In a nutshell? There's two classes; the elite test-tube babies like Iason (who works for the 'God', Jupiter), and the normally born 'mongrels' (aka gang leader Riki). Elites usually take on 'pets' to enjoy and watch, though not engage in sex with. Iason breaks that rule. Riki fights the entire way, but goddamn FEELINGS start kicking in. People on both sides don't like it. It's not a happy ending. T_T
I feel silly for it too, but the whole dynamic I like about Tracks/Raoul is that they're so different in a million ways, but treat each other as equals and have great chemistry. The 'pet' dynamic and all the other shit in AnK is so totally the other way of my thinking...there's AU, then there's characters who look/sound right, but don't act right.
